Hiking in San Francisco

I love random days of nothing. For the first weekend in a long time both Nicole and I didn't have anything planned. So, we decided to go hiking up in San Francisco. We ended up hiking around and above the Golden Gate Bridge. Then, we went to an AWESOME light house (Point Bonita) and checked out Sausalito for the first time. I love being a tourist in my own area, so much fun! I love where I live! Not only can I go hiking in the middle of Winter, but it is gorgeous! The views can't get better!

Equal Rights for All...

I am a proud supporter of Equal Rights for all. So when I heard of the chance to be part of a nation wide rally I became even more excited. I chose this particular rally because it wasn't protesting any church or people, it was about loving all no matter their opinion. Treat others how you want to be treated. Seeing Amos Brown speak was also amazing. (Google him!) I am so proud to have participated and be part of something that is bigger than me. It was such an amazing feeling standing there side by side so many people that had so much love and passion. The speeches were amazing and then a choir got up and sang the theme from Rent. AMAZING.

I urge everyone to really think about human rights as a whole. We are all born how our Heavenly Father made us. Why should any of us have different rights than the next just because we were born one way or another? Me being straight doesn't make me anymore special than anyone else, so why should I have special privileges? I think back to when women couldn't vote, couldn't own land, even have equal pay... men were scared to give us equal rights and look how far we have come. I hope we can continue on the path of giving rights to all.

School Time...

I NEVER EVER thought I would be typing this but... I am officially a student again. I just enrolled in my first college class since I graduated in 2004. It was rather weird enrolling, but I am very excited. I didn't think I would ever go back to school, in fact, I think I vowed on my last day that I would never be back.
But here I am! Like so many other current adventures in my life, I am starting off with just a toe in the pool and we will see where it goes from there. But, I am excited to test the waters!

Pumpkin Carving Party!!

Mitch and Eric have an annual pumpkin carving party and we were lucky enough to be invited. Mitch is an amazing cook. Yummy cupcakes! But the best part was we got to carve pumpkins! Although I gave up on pumpkin carving a few years ago, it came back to me easily... like riding a bike! And as I was doing it, I remember how much fun it was!
All of us getting down and dirty in the pumpkin guts.
The bunny and the hippie girl. (notice new hair color)
All of our pumpkins in display. I have been so obsessed with the tv series True Blood so I just had to carve my pumpkin in that theme. I think it turned it pretty well. It took two candles to light it up...I am so proud.
Carving away.

Aloha Festival

After the race we just had to go to the Aloha Festival! Nicole kept raving about Malasadas, so we just had to try those, plus who can pass up some good Hawaiian food after a 6.5 mile race!?

Malasadas, I waited in line for 30 minutes for these! And they were worth every minute of waiting. I brought a bag down for the guys who were just getting done racing and I think they were devoured in under a minute.

Nicole is so happy. She has poi. She has spam musabi and malasadas.

I think I am hooked on Hawaiian food.

This is me after racing, no makeup and so tired, but very happy since I just had kalua pig plate, a malasada and have a spam musabi in Liz's purse!

Liz's first try at spam musabi. She said she would eat it later. I think in this pic she was still deciding if she like it or not .
Thanks to Liz, we got to sleep another hour. She lives in the city, so she let us crash. Then she got up and saw us race! What a trooper! Liz Rocks!!
